Whilst singing at the top of my lungs "we're strong enough to make these millions.Strong enough to bear the children then get back to business" and "Im reaping for the girls who taking over the world help me raise a glass for the college grads." from the Beyonce smash hit 'run the world' I can't help but feel empowered as woman kinda makes me want to stick my fingers at the men who are going to be earning more than me doing the same job.
As a female, do I want to see a higher female presence in all roles of society? Is it enough to say we have had only one female Prime Minster, achievement yes, good enough no. Is okay that we are still referred to as "bitch" and displayed as sex objects? It seems in a man driven world this is acceptable, personally I listen to Rihanna for her voice not because she wears skimpy outfits and dry humps on the stage. For this do I blame men? Strangely not. I understand that to sell records/ to make money if you don't have a sex tape or are prepared your clothes off you're not worth knowing. Is it not about time that we stand up and say no I have an opinion I'm going to use it. Adele seems to have the right idea, you don't see her bump and grinding or following the trend of being bi sexual.
What is it about women that empowers us to achieve greatness? is it the iconic role models such as Beyonce telling us we can? Is it the sisterhood of females helping each other in a man run world? To this point I say no. Defiantly not.
I am no feminist, but I do believe that women need to start supporting one and other and smashing the male perception that we are made to be good wives, classy, intelligent, virginal, all to become the most educated housewife. Sure, my three years of university will come in very handy when i'm scrubbing the kitchen floor, but all that doesn't really matter, as long as I look good on his arm. If I keep the house extra clean I may be allowed a little bit more pocket money to go and buy myself some shoes. Oh please, if I want it I sure as hell will buy it, for myself, with my own money, that I worked hard for.
Its funny, although men put down women's achievement to looks and sleeping with the boss never to the possibility of endless nights working, reading, learning and bettering themselves. On the other hand women don't help each other, with catty remarks in the work place and putting each other down. Women see women as a threat, therefore in this world we not only have to work doubly hard to make ourselves noticed in the work place but other women don't seem to like the success which we may have.
I think its time that women stopped size 0 models which mean that the rest of the world doesn't have to look in the mirror and cry, How? Start eating and not accept that you have to be unhealthy thin to be pretty. Stop dancing in their underwear next to 50 cent while he is telling us he can take us to a candy store, sorry but id rather not.
